Western Australia is the resources export hub of Australia.

The sector produces more than 50 different minerals from about 1,000 operating mines in Western Australia. For five commodities alone, Western Australia produced more than ten per cent of the world’s total production in 2015.

The following map of WA mining and energy major projects is produced quarterly by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety. The map is regularly updated as new mines in WA are established, and new mining projects in WA receive approval.
