Climate & Energy Reference Group

The Climate and Energy Reference Group is tasked with leading policy development on climate, greenhouse gas emissions and energy-related issues impacting the resources sector.

Projects & Issues

• Promoting the need for a national framework for greenhouse gas emission reduction and ensuring policy mechanisms promote access to lowest cost abatement
• Advocating for clarity of and removal of duplication for greenhouse gas-related approval requirements
• Advocating for efficiency improvements to Commonwealth reporting scheme (National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting System)

The Climate and Energy Reference Group provides guidance on CME’s participation on a number of external groups:

• Minerals Council of Australia’s MCA Climate and Energy Committee
• The Environmental Protection Authority’s Stakeholder Reference Group
